The Helios Biblios Hour : I CREATED GOOD AND EVIL Wilhelm Reich

from O YE DRYBONES (FEB 2019 - JAN 2025) · host DRYBONES

For those who don't know, Reich was one of Freud's inner circle -- some say he was being groomed to take over leadership of the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA) -- but he was ultimately centrifuged out of that organization for his social reform and anti-Nazi work. Historians have since documented the general capitulation of German psychoanalysis to the Nazis, but not so Wilhelm Reich, an Austrian-Ukranian of Jewish background.  In the mid 1930s Dr. Reich began noticing an energetic connection that is shared by all living beings and had the clarity of mind to not dismiss the observation as unimportant. Dr. Reich called this energy "orgone" and worked for decades demonstrating its laws and studying its various manifestations. His work encompassed 40 years within six countries, but in the end he suffered the indignity of seeing his life's work banned in America and tons of his books and journals burned by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration per bureaucratic decree. It was a brazen act of censorship that is overlooked today within the texts of history.Prior to his orgonomic research, Dr. Reich had earned an international reputation as a scientist of integrity. Once, after he had demonstrated orgone energy to Albert Einstein, the famous physicist exclaimed that "this would be a bombshell to physics".(1948), Dr. Reich recreates his carefully documented work regarding the treatment of several cancer patients deemed hopeless and terminal by orthodox medicine. Several of his cancer patients were "cured" but, being the careful man of science he was, Dr. Reich was careful not to declare orgone treatment as a cure for cancer. After a lengthy harassment campaign by the FDA over the medical use of orgone, that began in the mid 1940s, Dr. Reich died in prison in 1957.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/o-ye-drybones-archive--6500709/support.
