The Helios Biblios Hour : Super Bowl 55 /BLACK HISTORY SPECIAL

from O YE DRYBONES (FEB 2019 - JAN 2025) · host DRYBONES

Life as a buccaneer was very difficult, she notes. Crews often made their living by attacking cargo ships, which meant that to turn any sort of profit, the buccaneers would have to travel to a nearby island and fence their loot for cash—a drawn-out, difficult process with no guarantee of reward. Exhausted by lack of food, disease and the otherwise grueling pace of survival on a ship, buccaneers often served just one or two “ventures” before retiring. One of the most famous black pirates was Black Caesar, who raided ships in the Florida Keys for almost a decade before joining Blackbeard aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge. Like many pirates, his life is shrouded in legend, but he was apparently a very large and very cunning man.. Early residents of the area found inspiration for the word Kansas from the Kanza Native American tribe. The swearing in of Joe Biden as the United States’ 46th president on January 20th drew millions of television viewers to witness the occasion. But it was an especially monumental day for Catholics, as they watched Joe Biden became the just the second Catholic president in the nation's history. With Nancy Pelosi retaining her position as Speaker of the House and John Roberts remaining Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Catholics officially – for the first time in history – sit at the head of all three branches of government. It's a situation that would have seemed quite unlikely just a few decades ago, when Catholicism was considered a major political weakness and a source of frequent attack from critics. Now in the driver’s seat at all three branches of government, Catholics have the metaphorical keys to the castle. You have to realize that with the development of our central banking systems all over the world, and particularly through global development lending and our investments in places like China, the economy of the world has grown exponentially over the last 100 years.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/o-ye-drybones-archive--6500709/support.
