As Sheriff Holton's team identifies three men who've been seen with Pauline, attention focuses on Noah Baxter, a wealthy local rancher who owns the hotel where Johnny is staying. When Johnny and the sheriff confront Baxter at his ranch, he admits to being friends with both Pauline and George, but denies any improper relationship. The tension builds as they prepare to question Baxter's employees about Pauline's visits.
