In the summer of 2019, a drought shrank Bayou Teche to a trickle. That's when the parish drainage crew found something in the mud: a door, perfectly intact, hinged to a cypress root, leading nowhere. Luna's cousin Camille worked the crew. She told Luna what they saw when they pried it open — and what crawled out after dark.
