The Hero in You

Our spiritual journey is often one of triumph over adversity and involves accepting obstacles as part of the process, not separate from it. Too often we interpret difficulties or detours as a sign that we shouldn’t pursue our goals. However, as we examine the hero’s journey, based on the works of Joseph Campbell, we find an archetypical pattern that enables us to recognize our own experiences as part of an innate process of growth and transformation. The hero’s journey is a guide to understanding and living our lives on purpose. This episode focuses on the four stages of the hero’s journey as depicted in popular film and literature and provides helpful tools for honoring the hero within ourselves. “We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us.” - Joseph Campbell
