Cotinuing from last week, wives win their husbands with conduct letting him observe rather than with words. By faith, we say we are willing to go and serve wherever God sends you. But what if the mission field is closer to home. What if your mission field is on the other side of the bed. We are willing to suffer in the mission field for another country, but are you willing to suffer for your husband. If you are blessed with a husband who is a believer, can you win him to a deeper relationship to Christ or to help Christ (not you) be his highest priority in his life. The hidden person of the heart radiates outwardly to their countenance. Your countenance reveals your heart. God does not tell you to work on your countenance, but to work on your heart. He does not want you to be an actress. When we look at the trait of Christ being gentle, his is seen as a good shephard. Wifes are instructed to be gentle. Realizing that exerting all of your power would be detremental rather than beneficial to your husband. As a wife you have extraordinary power in your husband's life affecting his actions. Throughout the Bible, there are many examples of wives using this to cause disaster: Adam and Eve or King Solomon and his many wives. Rather examples like Nabal and Abigail or Abraham and Sarah, portray a quiet spirit that should be sought after. A quiet spirit is a settledness, a peacefullness, a contentedness. A spirit that settles problems by bringing them to God in prayer and trusting He will take care of it. This gentle and quiet spirit is recongized by God and is very precious in His sight. Husbands will not fight for respect. They will simply withhold his love and become apathetic not only to his family but toward life. To be a wife with a gentle and quiet spirit requires the wife to have a better relationship with God.
