The Hidden Treasure and the Pearl of Great Value Matthew 13:44-46

The stories that inspire us tell of men and women who gave up everything to follow Jesus. They see the Kingdom of Heaven as priceless, selling everything to obtain it. This is the paradox of the Kingdom–salvation is a free gift, yet followers of Christ freely sacrifice everything for it. How we receive the Kingdom of Heaven reveals the true treasure of our heart. When confronted with Christ, do we go away sorrowfully like the rich young ruler? Or can we say with Peter, “we have left everything and followed you.” (Matt. 19:16-30)?
