The Hidden Treasure and the Pearl of Great Value Matthew 13:44-46

from Prairie Bible Church · host Prairie Bible Church

The stories that inspire us tell of men and women who gave up everything to follow Jesus. They see the Kingdom of Heaven as priceless, selling everything to obtain it. This is the paradox of the Kingdom–salvation is a free gift, yet followers of Christ freely sacrifice everything for it. How we receive the Kingdom of Heaven reveals the true treasure of our heart. When confronted with Christ, do we go away sorrowfully like the rich young ruler? Or can we say with Peter, “we have left everything and followed you.” (Matt. 19:16-30)? For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God (1 Cor. 1:18). Take Home Message: No sacrifice is too great for a Kingdom of supreme worth. Lessons from the Treasure and the Pearl-              God graciously pursues the lost.-              Matt. 13:44– The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. -              People are earnestly searching for true meaning.-              Matt. 13:45– Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls.-              Believers gladly sacrifice all for the Kingdom.-              Matt: 13:45-46– 44 The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. 45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, 46 who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it. Take Home Questions1.            Is Christ my Lord?2.            What areas of my life are off limits?3.            Have I fully grasped the riches of knowing Christ? Simple. Authentic. Jesus. www.prairiebible.org
