The (High School) Mascot Wars

In the third episode of the series, we hear from high schools on opposite sides of the country with two different approaches to the question of Native American team mascots.  Biewen acknowledges off the bat that rooting for a team is kind of ridiculous, but that team loyalties can cross geographic, racial, and cultural boundaries.  In one school, a unilateral administrative decision to change the mascot fails after a heated school board meeting.  In another, the student body pushes for change and despite another heated school board meeting, the name sticks.  This episode is about an issue that remains intractable across the United States, and how students in one school became the catalyst for an effort to change minds across the country.
