Welcome to the weekly standard podcast. I'm your host Michael Graham with us in the weekly standards. Michael Warren It's been a big week for Hillary Clinton launching her book not so much in book sales Not a lot of success there, but Michael. How is brand Hillary looking in this first week?

It's roll out How can you say that when we're talking about the most beloved woman politician on the planet and one of the biggest celebrities since I don't know Bogey and Bacall combined You know you've mentioned before Michael that Hillary is sort of being viewed as a vessel of history Oh my gosh, you're going to be the first one president. You're gonna represent the first grandmother president You know you've all these things represent but isn't it enough for a politician to be a vessel for the voters desires You know for example voters who really wanted to see a black president United States So they voted for president Obama separate from any ideology or policies and if she becomes the vessel for women's hopes and dreams Isn't that enough to get elected president? Eight years of Republican have been in charge for nearly a decade and and that brought about a bit of this represent sort of the hopes for a country that's Trying to move past I'll find a bad racial history but also move beyond those eight years. That's something different It's hard to say about Hillary.

Yes. She's a woman But the thing around national politics for two decades And I think that's a hard sell but maybe I'm off it's Michael Warren. How did she do on Fox News with Greta and Sustrine right there? I think right there really put the bank on the stuff But again, she doesn't say anything that that's really different in trouble.

That's that I think it was a big big way that I had as she was ready I was really that he doesn't shooting but a plutonium So way she did that. She said it's paying out more because the only thing that she really that she really that you know One of the meanest things you can do to a Hillary Clinton supporter is ask them So tell me your favorite Hillary Clinton accomplishment and we all laugh about that And you know that you know that when you ask her friends when you ask her what is the greatest achievement as secretary state? What's your greatest achievement? You don't get an answer, but it is kind of telling isn't Michael that here we are She's been pseudo running for months This question has become a running gag and based on her answers during this book toward this past week She still doesn't have an answer for that question again.

We go back to 2008 People were saying the same thing about Barack Obama. The difference was particularly in the Democratic primaries Cute people say I do not support the Iraq war not from they want that for the Iraq war That was motivating people it was an actual I mean sort of a lack of of any kind of action because he just wasn't there to vote for it But I think that was something that people were in the latch on to and say aha That's you know, they can rock for it. It was a terrible idea. Of course that at the time when they go for it's exactly that Nobody can do a lot of disaster.

That's what you look around the world. It's just it's not even more secure It's really not a lot that respects and recognizes America's a iterate and how I or a total to be to be reckoned with so One last question for you Michael and in real clear politics today Tom Bevin had a piece five reasons why Hillary won't be running for president and he speculated that if she doesn't it'll be these reasons And he mentioned the one that I've heard from quite a few people now Which is she doesn't seem to be hungry for the win She seems like someone who would be like to be president and she'd be more than delighted to have someone handed to her But for example the smallest contentious question from somebody like Terry grossa and PR seems to you know get her It gets her dander up. She's she feels she seems to even resent the idea that she has to answer these questions Which of course if you're hungry to win you understand not only do you have to answer them But you try to turn them into opportunities to get where you want to be basically what you've seen so far from Hillary Clinton Do you think she's hungry to be president the way say her husband was in 1992? My good friend is a fun.

She had to know or actually just wrote about this and kind of had a thought back And I thought really which is that it makes her Hillary Clinton herself that she's put on herself Do I have the interest do I have the energy to do this? I kind of think it's more like like rocky training for her to get back in the in the ring after several years out now He's trying to she's sort of got a 80s rock music montage in the background thing Okay, can I can I really sort of come out of here with with you know with guns and blazer and ready to go? That's that's we seen and I think that once you start seeing some other Democrats look at her look at some of these weaknesses and think Hey, why did I get to the front of my hat and the rain? They see that that you know I don't have the energy to do this particularly against somebody who might have some Obama like energy like I don't know what was before so we'll have to see but I do think to some other things that were training session for Hillary Michael Warren.
