The History and Evolution of Hal Jordan - Green Lantern

The episode examines the extensive history of Hal Jordan, the most iconic Green Lantern, to provide context for his upcoming portrayal in the television series Lanterns. It contrasts the character's early comic origins as a courageous test pilot with more complex narratives, such as his descent into villainy as Parallax and his eventual redemption as the Spectre. The source highlights how different eras of DC Comics introduced key elements like the emotional spectrum, the weakness to yellow, and Hal's relationships with other lanterns like John Stewart and Sinestro. Furthermore, it explores how the new show’s gritty, mentor-focused iteration of Hal differs from his younger, more earnest depictions in past media.
