The history of Philips Part 6. The first radio sets and the creation of a corporate identity

Making light bulbs, making good vacuum, laid the foundation for a huge business in radio tubes and in radio sets. But the 30s were also the decade that Louis Kalff created a corporate identity by standardzing the well known starts and waves Philips Logo.  Design and technology go hand in hand. Just a five minute walk from Eindhoven Central Railway Station, the Philips Museum emerges you in the history of the company that shaped the Brainport region. Right at the spot where Gerard Philips produced his first light bulbs in 1891, you see how Philips is constantly reinventing itself and playing an pivotal role in societal changes with innovative technology. First with electric light, later with radio, television and the arrival of the digital age. And right now, Philips is at the forefront of major upheavals in healthcare.
