"The Holy Spirit" (John 14:15-21 & 16:7-11)

We’re moving from the work of God the Father and God the Son— who plan and accomplish redemption (respectively), to the work of God the Spirit, who applies that redemption to God’s people. In this passage from John we hear Jesus talk about his own project of redemption. Why Jesus is confident that his plans for redemption will not fail? He is confident not because of anything in us, because he knows what kind of Helper we have. How does this take a burden off your shoulders? Read John 14:18 How is feeling like “an orphan” the opposite of a life of faith? Read John 14:15 & Romans 5:5. Where does obedience come from? Where does love for Jesus come from? How do these truths change the way you approach growth in holiness?
