The Honor of Prayer

from MY Devotional: Daily Biblical Encouragement & Prayer from Leading The Way · host Dr. Michael Youssef, Leading The Way

Jesus taught His followers to pray by calling God Father. For many, that truth feels overwhelming: How can sinful people approach the holy and righteous God with such intimacy? In today’s episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef explains that we can call God Father only because of the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Without the sacrificial death of Jesus, there is no forgiveness. But through His death and resurrection, believers are redeemed, restored to right fellowship with God, and adopted into His family. By the Holy Spirit, we no longer live as slaves to fear—we cry, “Abba, Father.” Dr. Youssef also reminds us that Biblical repentance is not self-improvement; it is receiving Christ’s free gift of salvation. In Him, we are given new life, freedom from the past, power to change, and the right to come to God in prayer. When you cry out to God and wonder whether He hears, do not give up. Because of Christ’s atoning blood, you can approach the throne of grace with confidence, receiving mercy and finding grace in your time of need. Pray with me.  Father God, thank You for having compassion on me and for the joy of intimate communion with You. In trials, help me not to become discouraged but to find hope and even joy in my standing before you as your adopted, beloved child. I pray I will use the new life You have given me to honor You. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.  The voice you hear on the MY Devotional podcast is digitally generated with Dr. Youssef's permission.
