Raised in Anderson with a mother in the ministry, perhaps a higher power intervened to send Mr. Basketball & McDonald’s All-American Ray Tolbert to Bloomington. Whatever it was certainly saved him from that hellhole in West Lafayette, and for that we all feel blessed. Not only was Ray one of the most consistent starters, scorers and rebounders in IU history, he was also an all-timer when it came to monster dunks. Playing alongside the likes of Woody, Zeke, Landon, and Wittman, this Hoosier Hall of Famer won a NIT title, a Pan-American gold medal, two Big Ten crowns, and the 1981 National Championship.
