The Horrible

Thirteen-year-old Madeline Rapaport is a gifted piano prodigy struggling with violent intrusive thoughts and a voice in her head that seems determined to destroy her life. During a late-summer hike near Hidden Lake, Madeline follows a rare bird deep into the woods and discovers a cave marked with ancient symbols and inhabited by something enormous lurking in the darkness. After the encounter, the torment inside her mind suddenly vanishes—but strange shadows soon begin moving through the Rapaport mansion at night, and terrifying creatures emerge from the darkness around her family.
