Jeanette Maples: Tortured & Failed by the System | Eugene

from PNW Haunts & Homicides · host PNW Haunts and Homicides

The story of 15-year-old Jeanette Marie Maples seems far too horrific to be true. Even her mother Angela had a childhood marred by the sad story of tragedy and abuse. At each and every turn all of the possible safety nets and child welfare systems available failed. Despite clearly well-intentioned attempts to protect Jeanette, DHS would come under fire for their lack of follow through in her case. We couldn't help but recall from Episode 33 the absolutely chilling story of Theresa Knorr. The dreadful details of her death would shock both the Bend and Eugene communities where she had once lived. Along with her childhood friends, her sadly, long estranged family, as well as those touched by Jeanette's case whether law enforcement, journalist, or medical professional were left to wonder - how were the atrocious crimes that took place, escalating within the Howard Ave. home leading up to her death happen? How could violent abuse so depraved seemingly go unnoticed? Doom Generation Promo If you're enjoying our podcast, please consider leaving a rating & review on Apple Podcasts. American Radical MS NOW, Ayman Mohyeldin Rosanne Boyland hated politics. She was shy, and she rarely left her home in Georgia. But then her family got a shocking call: Rosanne had died at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, in the middle of a crowd trying to force its way past a police line. From the depths of their grief, the Boylands vow to figure out what happened to Rosanne. Her brother-in-law, Justin Cave, reaches out to an old high school friend he hopes can help: MS NOW journalist Ayman Mohyeldin. The quest for the truth takes Ayman back to his hometown of Kennesaw, Georgia, where he retraces the last six months of Rosanne's life and picks up a trail that leads to childhood haunts, missing boyfriends, and down shadowy internet rabbit holes.
