What was hidden is revealed, and a city’s end is sung aloud.   In this passage from The Odyssey, Book VIII, Demodocus sings of the wooden horse and the final deception at Troy. The Achaeans abandon their huts and ships, while Odysseus and the chosen warriors lie concealed within the hollow horse as the Trojans debate its fate.
