A man reaps what he sows.” — Galatians 6:7Not every fall begins with a major decision.Sometimes it begins with a seed.A thought entertained too long. A conversation that should have ended. An offense repeatedly replayed. A relationship given too much access. A boundary slowly moved. A compromise that gradually became normal.In Prayer XIV of The House of Prayer, inspired by Conversation V of Refined for a Purpose — The Seed That Weakens Resistance, we ask God to reveal and uproot the seeds that are quietly weakening our spiritual resistance.The danger of compromise is not only what it produces today. Repeated compromise can train us for the next compromise. What once troubled our conscience can become familiar, and what becomes familiar can eventually begin to feel normal.So we pray:“God, give me the courage to confront it while it is still a seed.”This is a prayer for restored boundaries, renewed spiritual sensitivity, stronger self-control, and deeper dependence upon the Holy Spirit.It is also a prayer of gratitude for God’s mercy.If God exposes something before it destroys us, that is mercy.If He interrupts a dangerous relationship, that can be mercy.If He closes a door we wanted open, that can be mercy.If He confronts something we were beginning to justify, that can be mercy.We refuse to confuse mercy with permission.Instead of saying, “I got away with it,” we declare:“God gave me another opportunity to get it right.”There are seeds competing for our attention—the seed of compromise and the seed of purpose.So today we make a choice:I WILL STARVE THE WRONG SEED.I will not feed what weakens me. I will not water what threatens my purpose. I will not normalize what God is calling me to confront. I will not continually move my boundaries to accommodate compromise.My resistance is being restored. My convictions are being strengthened. My spiritual sensitivity is returning. My character is being refined.The seed will not become the harvest. The spark will not become the forest fire.
