The Household of God
from The City Church · host Nii Noi Osuteye
What does it mean to be the household of God?As we continue our series exploring the nature of the Church, this message looks at Paul’s powerful picture of the Church as God’s household in Ephesians 2:19–22. More than an organisation or a weekly gathering, the Church is a family brought together through Christ, united by a shared identity, a shared belonging, and a shared purpose. In this sermon, we explore three key truths about the household of God:* A New Identity – Through Christ, we are no longer strangers or outsiders but sons and daughters of God, united as brothers and sisters in His family.* A Shared Belonging – We are joined together by Christ, our cornerstone, and called to live as a community marked by love, unity, and intentional relationships.* A Divine Purpose – The Church is being built together as a dwelling place for God by His Spirit, displaying His presence to the world. This message challenges us to consider how we relate to one another within the Church and how we can actively contribute to the life of God’s household. It reminds us that Christian community is not optional—it is central to God’s design for His people.
