The Texans finalized their practice squad, and when I look at the back half of this roster, I see something interesting: flexibility. Houston still has areas where it can get better — wide receiver, running back and edge depth — and I have a conspiracy theory about why some of these players are here. I think the Texans built this roster with TWO things in mind: Weekly roster manipulation — giving Houston the flexibility to move players on and off the roster depending on injuries, matchups and game-day needs. Trade flexibility — keeping some expendable pieces around so if Houston makes a trade, there’s an easier path to create a roster spot for the new player. And then there’s the tight end room. With Brevin Jordan joining the roster and Marlin Klein showing real progression over the last month, is one of Houston’s tight ends suddenly expendable? Maybe. Or maybe I’m completely wrong. Either way, the Texans have options — and that could be exactly what Nick Caserio and the front office want heading into the regular season. PLUS: Is Houston really under the same pressure as the other top-tier AFC teams? I say NO.
