The Ijiraq

We begin deep in the Canadian Arctic. Inuit tradition warns of a mysterious being that can become invisible, disguise itself as an animal, and lure travelers farther and farther into a frozen wilderness from which they may never return. This creature isn't merely an old legend—because some still claim to have encountered one themselves. Then we go across the frozen wilderness of Lapland where an old Sámi tradition tells of murdered or abandoned children whose restless spirits can still be heard crying from the places where their bodies were hidden. Lastly, for Dan's stories, generations of Inuit children have been warned not to wander too close to cracks in Arctic sea ice, because something beneath the frozen surface may be watching and waiting to drag them into the black water below. Tonight, we'll explore the legend of the Qallupilluit! Then, Lynze has four stories for us. She begins in Iraq where a young child is certain she has seen a demon. Then, another weird one about a glowing cube that two people both see and hear. So strange. For her third story, is it a real man or is it a creature we don't know yet?
