The Impact of Consumerism on Disciple Making Part 4: Demands of Consumerism

from The Practitioners Podcast: Applying Jesus Style Disciple Making in Every Day Life · host Justin Gravitt and Tony Miltenberger

We’ve learned a lot about consumerism so far. Notably, its three tenets, 1. Satisfaction Can Be Purchased 2. Purchasing Power is Found in Systems 3. System Participation Demands Our Identity   3 Demands of Consumers: I must get what I want NOW. (DoorDash, everything!) I must get what I want MY WAY. (Burger King) I must be able to RETURN what I actually don’t want and TRY AGAIN (at your expense). (Amazon)   Takeaway: Consumers have demands because they believe the product will satisfy.   Action Step: Consider the demands you are making on your faith community. Ask the question are you a consumer or an stakeholder in your local church? (Understanding without changing never leads to growth.)   Show Notes: Romans 5:8 https://www.justingravitt.com/blog/consumerism-demands Justin’s Website Tony’s Website Navigators Church Ministries The Reclamation Podcast
