The Importance of Being Adaptive
from The Job · host Jonny Bevan - The Police Burnout Coach
More than ever now in the modern world of policing it is vitally important that we are adaptive. If we are rigid then we will get stuck and we then become the obstacle.Being adaptive means not only being able to adapt to changing situations but being able to look and reflect upon the beliefs that you hold to see if they are benefiting you. You may hold beliefs that once served you but now, with new pressures and demands are burning you out.Perfectionism was one of these beliefs for me. It served me (sort of but not really) when the demand was not so high and before I had other competing demands such as children, but when life got busier perfectionism had to go.Being able to adapt to your new environment is a skill that you can learn.Have a listen and see what you thinkJonny
