from Raising Successful Kids Podcast · host Irene Santineer

Irene is speaking with serial entrepreneur Fredrik Sandvall who shares his experiences of life and the ways it has shaped his parenting. They discuss the importance of deep curiosity and how parents influence the development of this in their kids. Fredrik talks about the importance of being an individual, finding out about the world and learning as a tool to leapfrog to further success.   KEY TAKEAWAYS I have a huge curiosity and drive to find things out. The biggest transformation for me was moving from leading around twenty to leading upwards of one hundred. Instead of knowing everything you have to trust others to do it in their own way. If you learn to trust others until they give you cause to think otherwise then you can leverage to move forward. I want my kids to be competitive and have a winning approach, in many European countries there is an attitude of entitlement but kids need have a level of hardship in order for them to develop a winning approach. We have used sports as a way of developing competitive attitudes in our children Our kids get very different things from my wife and myself, this is great for our kids. There is a great balance between us and it benefits our children. Money is a taboo subject but if we don’t talk about money how will we learn about it. In our family, I am always explaining how the business works to educate them. To have a successful mindset it is  fundamental that you understand how money works as both a positive and negative Education plays an important role in our family and we have a shared view on its importance in life. I would ideally like them to follow a route personal development enabling them to access accelerated learning. Kids must ultimately be able to find their own way and make their own mistakes.   BEST MOMENTS ‘When you travel you get perspective  and appreciate what you have ‘ ‘To let go and not have everything your own way is a good skill to have’ ‘My wife and I are polar opposites to each other’ ‘My dad is very unselfish in the way he parents me’   VALUABLE RESOURCES Raising Successful Kids Podcast    ABOUT THE HOST Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child and shares a passion with her husband to see him succeed.
