The Importance of Discipleship Matthew 9:35-38 March 16, 2025

Discipleship is the means that God has chosen to grow His kingdom and His kingdom citizens. We are calling people to become disciples of Jesus; calling them out of darkness into light; out of the domain of darkness into the kingdom of Jesus. It’s important because people matter to God.  It’s important because the need is great.  It’s important because the workers are few.Matthew 9:35–38 (ESV) And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction.  When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.  Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
