The Importance of Discovering Yourself with Carl Wright | Going On Your Own Journey - Part 1
from The Observatory | Discovery of Consciousness & Awareness · host The Observatory Podcast
Today our guest and Scott’s nephew, Carl Wright, joins us. He is a father, husband, entrepreneur, coach, a spiritual guru and we’re so excited to have had this vulnerable conversation with him. Carl’s family moved to Bolivia when he was 7 years old where he learned Spanish by watching shows on TV in that language. His dad served as a mission president for the LDS Church, but after the mission he realized he needed to be true to himself about who he really was because he had been hiding that he was gay. Accepting this part of himself was all part of being able to experience greater joy in his life. We have to understand how our beliefs and perceptions are formed, and then realize that all of the things our families/friends/teachers have taught us may or may not be true. Then we can start to realize and see the truth of who we really are. “It’s not How much money can I make.’ It’s ‘How can I help other people?’”About Carl 2:353 murdered missionaries and death 7:30Carl’s dad coming out 11:30Our reality and how it’s formed 18:00Carl’s biggest fear in high school 23:45Bringing the wall down and discovering himself 25:45How these views have helped Carl be an entrepreneur 33:47Coaching 40:00Acceptance in the family 49:25Spiritual gifts 55:51“I think there’s this discovery we all have to go on of ‘Who am I?’ That experience for my dad was the experience that led him to self discovery and being OK with who he really is. The sooner we can embrace who we really are in life, the sooner we can start to feel joy and happiness.” 14:25
