The Importance of inclusivity of diversity - With Omer

from Crohn's and Autism Awareness Advocate · host Mason Milne

In today's episode I am joined with Omer, who is a medical provider. We talk the importance of inclusivity, accessibility the understanding of different conditions. This conversation fits perfectly with Autism awareness month because we talk about, neurodiverse patients. Omer talks about how hospital's and doctor's can make make it a better environment when seeing people who are autistic, and so they have a better understanding. We feel Doctor's can focus on the Autism more than the actual reason you are at the appointment. Omer goal is to be a doctor, and has started a community talking about different topics and most evening he sits down and learns more about them. We also talk about our own experiences and feel more knowledge and training needs to be done in the medical field, so patients don't have to consciously explain themselves, and when your doctor/consultant leaves the next person has your information. We touch on chronic conditions, LGBTQ, and even more subjects Omer convers at the moment. This is a great episode to anyone who has any concerns about your encounters to anyone in the medical field, lastly we also touch on accessibility using a disabled toilet. A conversation you will enjoy, especially in autism awareness month! Thank you Omer!
