The Importance of Keeping Holy Water at Home (The Patrick Madrid Show)

from The Best of the Week · host Relevant Radio

Patrick Madrid got a question from Tricia in Chicago asking if there’s any good reason to keep holy water at home.  Oh, Patrick's got reasons! And they’re good ones. Here’s the gist:   ✝️ Bless Yourself with Holy Water   -It’s a powerful reminder of Jesus’ victory over sin and death.   -Just like Moses parting the Red Sea and the waters crashing down on Pharaoh’s army (which symbolizes sin), your sins were “drowned” through baptism.   -Making the Sign of the Cross with holy water recalls your baptism and reminds any demons lurking around that you belong to Jesus.   It’s NOT Superstition   -Holy water isn’t magic, but it symbolizes God’s grace. And the devil hates it.   -You can even receive a partial indulgence by devoutly blessing yourself with holy water.   🏡 Bless Your Home   -Patrick says you should walk through your home, room by room, sprinkling holy water and praying for protection from evil.   -1 Peter 5:8 says that the devil’s out there prowling like a roaring lion. And holy water is like a spiritual lion-tamer. 🦁❌   A Daily Habit   -Patrick even has a holy water font at his house, and his family blesses themselves with it before leaving the house.   Holy water is an easy and powerful way to stay connected to your faith and remind evil spirits that Christ is victorious. 💦🙏   Want to give it a try? Get yourself a little holy water font for your entryway. They’re easy to find at any Catholic goods store. 😉     The best way to listen to the Best of the Week is on our #1 Free Catholic App. It’s free and always will be!
