The Importance of Listening First Before Speaking | Healthy Habits that Support Your Mental Health

from Support, Protect, Empower - The Project Purpose Podcast · host Rachelle Innocent

The Importance of Listening First Before Speaking | Healthy Habits that Support Your Mental Health We're talking about the power of our voice, and the responsibility that comes with speaking up. Oftentimes we don't equate Mental Health and communication, but they are deeply intertwined. When we state our opinions, convictions and perspectives they inform the world around us of who we are, and what we believe. When we speak out of turn, without thinking, or before fully understanding the people, places, and situations we are talking about - the consequences and the backlash that comes with being held accountable can be a lot. Especially online. While I believe it's better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission - in all cases, it's best to reserve judgment until you have enough depth in understanding to protect your growth as you speak your truth. In a world that wants to define us by the lowest common denominator, let that not be the words we speak, or the opinions we carry. 0:00 - 2:30 - Intro 2:30 - 11:35 Listening Before Speaking 11:35 - Wrap Up Any questions?
