THE INKWELL (1994) Movie Reaction! | First Time Watch! | Larenz Tate, Jada Pinkett Smith, Joe Morton

Jaby & Michael react to The Inkwell, a coming-of-age comedy-drama set during the summer of 1976 as a shy teenager spends vacation with his family in Martha’s Vineyard and finds himself navigating friendships, romance, family tensions, and the challenges of growing up. Blending humor, nostalgia, and heartfelt life lessons, the film captures a memorable moment in adolescence while exploring identity, confidence, and relationships against the backdrop of a vibrant summer community. This reaction stands out for its relatable characters, nostalgic atmosphere, and emotional coming-of-age journey, as Jaby & Michael experience the film’s humor, awkward moments, and heartfelt growth in real time. Directed by Matty Rich (Straight Out of Brooklyn, The Visit, independent filmmaking, urban dramas, 1990s cinema), the film stars Larenz Tate (Menace II Society, Love Jones, Dead Presidents, Power Book II: Ghost, Ray), Joe Morton (Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Scandal, Speed, Eureka, Justice League), Jada Pinkett Smith (The Matrix Reloaded, Girls Trip, Set It Off, Gotham, Scream 2), Morris Chestnut (Boyz n the Hood, The Best Man, The Resident, Think Like a Man, Kick-Ass 2), and Vanessa Bell Calloway (Coming to America, Shameless, What’s Love Got to Do with It, Saints & Sinners, Bebe’s Kids), bringing together a cast tied to beloved 90s films, romantic dramas, and culturally significant coming-of-age stories that continue to drive strong reaction and nostalgia-based audience appeal. ___________________________________________________ We've got merch!
