The Inner Light of Creation by Peter Illyn from Restoring Eden

Peter Illyn is the founder and executive director of Restoring Eden, a Christian environmental organization. Peter quipped that he normally speaks for 40 minutes to a hostile audience — so speaking to us was a different experience! Peter read from Psalm 145 and reflected on our relationship to Creation. We’ve always found God’s presence in Creation, but during the Enlightenment, Christians allowed our view of Creation to morph into something mechanistic ("a well-oiled machine" that proved the intelligence of the Creator). We’ve lost something in embracing that metaphor too fully. Peter encouraged us to be humble, to see ourselves as "kin" to Creation. We must resist the idea that our planet is a disposable resource.
