The Intersection of Maternal Health and Cardiovascular Disease

The NCTCFP speaks to Dr. Karen Florio about the intersection of maternal health and cardiovascular disease, how pregnancy can affect heart health and vice versa, and ways family planning clinicians can address these issues in their own practices. Karen Florio, DO, MPH is a board-certified maternal and fetal medicine specialist in the Kansas City area.  In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Florio is an associate professor at the UMKC School of Medicine and assistant program director of maternal fetal medicine fellowship program.  She received her medical education at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and her MPH from Georgetown University.  She completed her residency at New York Methodist Hospital and her maternal-fetal medicine fellowship at Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
