Douglas Young, a well-published political science professor emeritus, has completed his new novel, “Deep in the Forest,” a gripping story following Elton Peabody, a high school history teacher who has a mysterious encounter with a bright light deep in the forest behind his house, and his journey both to understand what happened in that forest and also how to process it and move on with his life. Published by Newman Springs Publishing, Douglas Young’s strange yet often humorous tale shows the scrutiny that follows Elton after his encounter, but also takes in a small southern town’s sheriff’s election, high school from the perspective of a young teacher, the search for answers through religion, facing fears, and even taking risks for romance. Readers who wish to experience this quirky work can purchase “Deep in the Forest” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iBooks Store, Amazon, or Barnes & Noble
