The Jazz Singer signified the end of silent movies as it was the first feature length film to use synchronized recorded sound. The story follows Jackie Rabinowitz, a Jewish boy who runs away from his strict religious father to become a performer. Jackie changes his name to Jack Robin and performs jazz numbers in blackface.
