The Jesus Way

from Victory Church Jbay · host Brenton Brown

so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.John 13:4-5This week we will be looking at the word that Brenton Brown shared with us on Sunday entitled ‘The Jesus Way’.Firstly, it is important for us to remember that if we want to know what God is like, the best way to learn is to look at Jesus. We as children of God should follow the example set by Jesus because He Himself said that ‘anyone who has seen me has seen the Father’ (John 14:9). Jesus is perfect theology!Secondly, we need to realise that Jesus served those around Him. He got down on His knees and washed the feet of the disciples, even though it was a dirty, unpleasant job. He did this to show the disciples and us that no one is above serving others. We should seek to imitate His example in this by serving those around us, even when it is uncomfortable and inconvenient. Finally, in the Kingdom of God, this principle of serving is linked to greatness. Jesus changes the definition of greatness from being successful, powerful, rich and beautiful to being a servant. If we want to be great, we should focus on loving and caring for others.Who could you show the love of Jesus to by serving them? What could you do to serve your family, friends, coworkers and community? What does greatness mean to you?
