The Jukebox: Feb. 4, 1995

from The Jukebox: Radio Archive · host Mike Saffran

“Jukebox Saturday Night,” hosted by Mike Saffran, on “Oldies 98.9”/WKLX-FM (98.9), Rochester, N.Y. Originally aired 7 p.m.–Midnight Feb. 4, 1995.Special notes: Though the prior week (Jan. 28, 1995) was my first as regular Saturday night host, this was my first full show since being named “Jukebox Saturday Night” permanent host — beginning with “’70s at 7” (7–8 p.m. — featuring classic ’70s-era TV-show theme-song music beds) and ending with “Backseat Memories” (11 p.m.–midnight — including “crickets” background SFX ). I’m guessing I was using VoxPro for listener phone calls more (though not entirely); and, to my ear, it sounds as though I might’ve had mild cold.Callers aired and other show highlights:00:27 Unidentified male (“Heartbeat, It’s A Love Beat”)01:06 Sheila/Rochester (“Shannon”) — including reference to Gold Circle (Henrietta)01:52 Unidentified male (“Baby Come Back”) — plus, a compliment: “This is the best hour on radio!” :-)03:11 Unidentified male/Geneseo (“Who Loves You”)03:44 Unidentified female (“The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald”)04:18 First of a few references to “Your Ticket To Ride: The Movies” contest for a chance to win one of five Orlando, Fla., vacations from USAir, Universal Studios Florida and the Florida Division of Tourism 04:53 Unidentified female (“My Sharona”)05:30 Tina (“Rock Me Gently”)06:33 Unidentified female (“Leader Of The Pack”)07:04 Unidentified male (“Good Vibrations”)08:04 John/Rochester (“Lightnin’ Strikes” — dedication to Christine)08:55 Unidentified female (“American Pie”)10:01 Rita/Canandaigua (“[We’re Gonna] Rock Around The Clock” — dedication to son Elwin)10:37 Lou/Henrietta (“Sugar, Sugar”)11:23 “Classic Café” with Mike Vickers, sponsored by Kenny Rogers Roasters (Henrietta), plug 11:50 Unidentified female (“Blowin’ In The Wind”)12:19 Unidentified female (“My Boyfriend’s Back”)12:50 Unidentified male/Geneseo (“Brown Eyed Girl” — dedication from Zeta Beta Xi [ZBXi] fraternity to Sigma Delta Tau [SDT] sorority)14:02 Unidentified female (“Hawaii Five-O”)14:40 Abby (“Brandy [You’re A Fine Girl]” — dedication to Ben)16:10 Unidentified male (“Peggy Sue”)16:31 Unidentified male (“Runaround Sue”)16:48 Unidentified male (“Time Has Come Today”)17:19 Unidentified male (“Dream Lover”)17:47 Renée (“Bobby’s Girl” — dedication to John)18:45 Carrie (“Tonight’s The Night [Gonna Be Alright]” — dedication to Scott)19:14 Unidentified male/Bristol Hills (“I Got You Babe” — dedication to Pat and Jim Weaver on their 19th wedding anniversary)19:37 Reference to Rep.
