I don’t really recommend this method, though, actually. Yeah, I know … sometimes even I think I share too much of my personal life on this radio program!” ;-) 10:12 Theresa/Rochester (“Gloria”) 10:38 “I dunno … pretty soon, maybe be calling me ‘The Shadow’ around here … losing all this weight!” (including references to “sister station” WBEE-FM DJs “The Phantom” Mark Davis and “Big Daddy” Dave Beck) 11:37 Dave/LeRoy (“Things We Said Today”) 12:33 Shelly (“Born To Be Wild”) 13:18 Kim/Rochester (“Splish Splash”) 13:54 “Oldies Night” at Maxwell’s (Irondequoit bar) reference 14:13 Carl/East Rochester (“Someday We’ll Be Together”) 14:44 Cheryl/Spencerport (“Penny Lane”) 15:11 Dutch/Phelps (“War”) 16:15 Shout-out to host’s dog, Dutch (listening at home :-) 16:42 Street Machines of Rochester Car Show, June 13, at Dewey-Latta Park, Greece, reference 17:13 Jessica/Warsaw (“Georgy Girl”) 17:36 Derrick/On I-490 East (at Plymouth Avenue) — driving home from work at Strong Memorial Hospital (“Magic Carpet Ride”) 18:11 “Saturday Night All-Request Rock ’n’ Roll Jukebox” sweeper (Note: I can’t say for sure, all these years later, if playing the sweeper here was intentional or a “misfire” — although I strongly suspect it likely was a mistake, as sweepers normally aired cold between songs; plus, notice how the start of the sweeper slightly overlaps with what I was saying — suggesting, to me, that I had intended to drop the “coin-into-slot” SFX underneath my voice. Here once again, however, the good instinct was to ‘just go with it,’ as listeners would’ve been none the wiser. “Behind the scenes”: During an intensive, live show like this, which included not only the usual — such as preparing mike breaks and loading music and commercials — but also taking requests, talking on the phone, editing phone calls and loading requested songs, minor mistakes, such as pre-loading the wrong pre-recorded element, were always possible. Doing the show required great focus ‘in the moment’ — while also making it sound, on the air, like simply a blast (which it truly was). I think I usually succeeded in creating, for listeners, this “party on the radio” atmosphere. But, looking back, it’s slightly amazing “misfires” didn’t occur more often!) 19:13 Marie/Macedon (“Loves Me Like A Rock”) 20:11 Richard/Penfield (“Give Me One More Chance”) 21:02 Mike (“Walk Don’t Run” — dedication to Kristin) 21:23 “Sister station” WBEE-FM DJ “Big Daddy” Dave Beck stops by … :-) 21:34 Jackie/North Chili (“Crimson And Clover” — dedication to husband, John) 22:14 Laurie/Williamson (“To Sir With Love”) 23:20 Flag Day (June 14) reference 23:27 Liz (“Ooh Baby Baby”) All content (radio aircheck, audio podcast – all components, and show notes): © Michael J.
