The Karate Kid Saga Review (with Johnny Potoky)

We end the week with tons of praise for Jackie Chan (and Pat Morita of course) with the on-going KARATE KID franchise!   How were the '80s was the perfect era for the empowering the teen protagonist in movies?   What other films used the ROCKY formula well (i.e. training montages, characters slowly changing/evolving)?   Which action stars of this era & the ones of today are really charismatic performers?   In contrast, which recent sequels did or didn't handle homages well?   Inbetween sharing hot takes, we try to dissect why it's become a part of the pop culture zeitgeist.   Wax on, wax off, Kemosabe!
