The Kayak Fishing Story-Dwayne Walley

from Kayakjak's Fishing Intel Podcast · host Marty Hughes

Taking a photo of our fish catches has been a method to show others our accomplishment. Back in the day tournament anglers would bring in their stringer of fish to be weighed. Then came along live wells to keep the fish healthy for release. But what about on a kayak? They aren't equipped to live well. Kayak anglers started recording their catches with tape measures, the Golden Rule measuring board and other measuring devices. Then came along the "Hawg Trough" and currently the "Ketch" board and YakAttack "Leaderboard." With these advancements came along a "real time" catch, photo, release application that records an angler's catches. This provided the tournament scene a method to validate catches for placement. Photos are taken with a digital camera or smartphone. The photo is uploaded to the application and the fish is immediately released without further harm. The picture is recorded and applied to a leader board for an assigned competition. This determines the ranking based on the number and length of fish the angler catches during a certain time period. Our next show features Dwayne Walley, the creator of TourneyX which provides the opportunity to record our catches in real time. We will explore the evolution of how we have measured fish through the last three decades. This is a public episode.
