The Keef Carter Interview.

Keef Carter returns to Vigilantes Radio Live for a deeper conversation about identity, storytelling, ownership and the next evolution of his creative career. The Harlem alternative hip-hop artist first joined Coach Dini to discuss his ByKEEF trilogy, the influence of Kanye West and Cassidy, his unconventional MTA songwriting process, and his belief that art can bring people back to life. This time, one statement changes the entire conversation: “I’m not really an artist. I’m a writer.” Keef opens up about what that realization means, why “Black boy joy” became central to his storytelling, the role Harlem continues to play in his creative identity, and how art galleries, train rides, fashion, film and everyday observation shape his writing. The conversation also explores Keef’s plans to build a music production label, what ownership really means in today’s industry, whether he’d rather create a hit for someone else than perform one himself, and how his ambition is evolving beyond simply becoming a successful recording artist. With BYKEEFX3 approaching and an August 28 performance at Trixx Lounge in Indianapolis on the horizon, Keef isn’t simply preparing another release. He’s beginning to define what comes after being the person behind the microphone.
