The KEEP® Program with Amanda Law

from Coach Business · host Caryn Gillen

KEEP® is an evidence-based support and skill enhancement program for foster and kinship parents of children and teens. The program supports foster families by promoting child well-being and preventing placement breakdowns. Foster and kinship parents are key agents of change for the children in their homes, and KEEP® provides a support network for them (via regular meetings that include evidence-based, hands-on training, food, and childcare).  Fostering can be isolating and overwhelming but parents who participate in KEEP® experience fewer challenging child behaviors and less stress - this is universally true, regardless of where the program is taking place (where it was founded, in Oregon, or all the way in Denmark, where it is implemented country-wide). KEEP® Implementation Support Specialist and Interventionist, Amanda Law joins me in this episode to share all about KEEP® and what it's like to be involved in work that genuinely impacts and benefits the lives of others. A helpful parenting/human-ing tip she wanted to share is for us all to take one week and notice the nice/helpful things that people are doing, appreciate them, and voice your thanks. "We always notice when something is out of place," she says. "And, sometimes, we forget to notice all of the things that have fallen into place." As human beings, parents, and kids, we all want to be seen. We want people to notice when we're doing a great job. This is simply an invitation to recognize the millions of things around us that make our lives work. It's fun and you would be surprised by the difference it makes! Listen in for more great stuff from Amanda and about KEEP®... ----- Learn more about KEEP® by visiting keepfostering.org. And/or you can find them on all social channels @keepfostering. And, please share with anyone who would benefit by knowing they're out there! ----- Join me for 30 days of powerful questions.
