The Key is in Your Hand

from L.I.V.E. Life Inspired Views for Everyday · host Kris Meyer

Send us Fan MailI've mentioned before how much I learn from quotes. My journals are packed with quotes that reflect my values, hopes, and characteristics I hope to emulate while wandering this earth. I find meaning in ancient as well as current sages of wisdom. This week I explore a way to look at the quote by Rumi, who was a 13th-century poet, and Sufi mystic, and has been revered for his wisdom over the ages by almost all traditions. Rumi said, "One of the marvels of the world is the sight of a soul sitting in prison with the key in their hand."For some reason, some of the images that came to my mind were the episodes of Andy Griffith, depicting Otis, the town drunk, who would come into the jail after a night of drinking, take the key from the nail by the jail cell, lock himself in, then reach his arms through the bars to put the key back on the nail. In the morning, after sobering up, he reached through the bars for the key, unlocked his cell, and let himself be freed. I really gave you a spoiler alert this week. But I want your mind to start exploring how this might pertain to your life before you begin listening. Thanks for listening!
