He taught in synagogues, proclaimed the kingdom, and cured every disease. Crowds came from everywhere - Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, beyond the Jordan. The desperate, the sick, the possessed - they all came because someone was there who could do what no one else could do.John's letter reminds us to test the spirits by whether they acknowledge Jesus Christ come in the flesh. The kingdom isn't theoretical. It walked into Galilee wearing sandals.Today we also remember John Neumann, a bishop who brought the kingdom wherever he went - building schools, learning languages, serving immigrants until he collapsed at forty-eight. The kingdom is still at hand.
