We are the people who come here to play. We don't like it easy. We don't like it the straight way. In the middle of something we're here to stay and we raise our heads to the color red.

It's got to be the knife. It's the knife. I love the knife. It's one of my favorite knitting bands.

Yeah you and I really bonded over that one. I like to do it a little bit. I'm in Gothenburg, Gothenburg and that's where they're from. Cool.

So I'm just we were at a long bus right in and I just had this crazy synth hook of that song. So yeah thinking about the knife. They are so yummy aren't they? It's just it's like yeah so when you're eating a bite after bite and you're like oh god what's that?

Oh that's delicious. Oh what's that? Oh it's like there's all these little surprises and textures and shapes and they all seem really unique but they all go together and they're playful but they're dark. Yeah it's true.

It's real playful but dark. So I just can't stop thinking about the knife. Cool name. I mean come on.

The knife. For anyone who doesn't know what we're talking about there's a Swedish synth band. Is it called is it dark wave? People have all these different genres.

I don't know. You always know that stuff. I don't know if it's dark wave. I don't know Jose Gonzalez is a Swedish acoustic kind of acoustic based for I think he's obviously more than that but he did a wonderful cover.

Oh yeah yeah. It's gorgeous. It's amazing. It's incredible acoustic cover of a synth pop song which is like something I would do.

I really I had the opportunity played a festival with him and Chile. Chile. I don't know. I can't worry when I say that.

The South American country and he played a festival with us and I went and actually said hi to him which I really do. With other artists actually kind of sought him out a little bit and was like hey I don't. But I first heard him when he did that cover. He plays a lot of like nylon string classical guitar.

I like him too. Great stuff. A lot of great Swedish music. You know.

Hoping to take the daughter to the album museum. Oh yeah. When is that tomorrow? Maybe day after tomorrow.

Oh my gosh. Well you know I wish I was going to that one. Yeah. We're all going.

I know. If you change your mind. Take a chance on me. Take a chance.

Take a chance. I'm going to look at some I assume some bell bottoms behind glass. I'm thinking like it's going to be display cases with really cool high-heeled shoes for men and women. Yeah.

Don't remember their names. I could start rattling off their names right now. Agnetha is one. I don't know which one that is the ball.

I don't know their names. If they have a gift shop there you might want to try to find me some little nugget. If they have I think they probably started with the gift shop. They're like hey why don't we just try to make a museum around this gift shop.

Yeah. I'm assuming that it's all about the merch. I'm saying that the merch is probably. It's March I'm here for.

Yeah. So watch that credit card bell. Okay. I'm just going to chip that in everything everything here is cashless here.

You know so just gonna be like. Yes please. Oh my goodness. An alma shirt for Izzy.

Mmm. Mmm. Little shirt that says dancing queen on it. Make sure it's not too small.

Yeah. I mean yeah. I know what I'm gonna do. I mean these are like European sizes and like what's that number mean.

27. What is that? You have to ask for help honey. Because they know an eight year old little girl.

Say maybe an eight year old girl. Will she fit this? Maybe that's an eight year old Swedish. It's pretty robust people.

Izzy's pretty robust. She can do. Did I tell you that at school and after school she did four hundred and two cartwheels? One of the after school teachers counted it and it was in a row.

Four hundred and two. The kid that was closest to her bagged out at around two hundred four hundred and two cartwheels. And I was like were you exhausted after that? Were you so tired?

Were your arms jello? She's like no. Yeah. So anyway she's also robust.

She's strong. She was on the playground as she calls it or or swings it yesterday and she you know gave me her arms. She's like I'm so strong mama. She is strong.

She is cool. Yeah. She did a circus act for me yesterday. She made me set up the chair in front of the swing set and she had rehearsed a bunch of different you know hold your breath flips and things like that on the swing sets.

I was like oh oh good. Yeah. Oh. She's really she's really you know you've really been tested.

You know your fears have been challenged. This little girl has really I don't know. Yeah it's true. It's true but you know it's good for me.

It's good for me as hard as it is. It's good for me. So stretches me a little bit. Keep stretching me.

I guess we could talk about the my little lamb video. Speaking of yeah and I said kind of the theme of that. So my little lamb video for my little lamb by the folk and potion off of the new album coming out June 28 on Joyful Noise Recordings Walk Through Me. I know Joyful Joyful Noise Recordings proudly presents Walk Through Me by the folk and potion featuring John Davis and Lou Barlow produced by Scott Solter with extra beautiful percussion sprinkled in by Ryan Jewel cover art by John's partner Elizabeth.

Yes but recorded partially in Durham and partially in Greenfield. That's right. East Coast based. Here we go.

East Coast based. That's up and down the coast. East Coast. East Coast.

But yeah so anyway my little lamb we worked on that. We conceived of the storyline of the video based on kind of the theme of the song right. Actually what you're comfortable. Yeah we were talking about like you were talking about watching Izzy do some treacherous things in the playground in our backyard playground and our side yard playground.

But as they get older you have to they start to do gymnastics with their brains you know maybe they're gonna take drugs. Maybe they're gonna do crazy stuff you know and you got to watch it happen. You got to sit back and watch them grow and test their own boundaries and test boundaries and that's what the song is about. Yeah I think it's like when I heard that song I was thinking about how for me and I'm sure so many people can relate to this affair parent it's like it's this never-ending learning process because it happens constantly if you're with your child and there will always be a moment where you are silently holding your breath.

You know you are you're in taking your fear you're withholding it. You know you're like okay okay let's get through this moment and you know so there's that line in the song what is it the more you give the more they grow. I wish I wish that was the line I said the more you give the more you grow. Oh self-involved me saying that.

Well no it's it's true though you grow too because I was just saying that yeah I get I get stronger and I stretch myself through those fearful moments so no it's true it's true the more you give the more you grow. Yeah. You could say the more you give the more they grow which is true too but but you really don't know. That's the thing too is that you can I think that the message in the song which is really a message to myself is that that I can sort of invest all of this nervous energy into it and just start talking and this is something that this is like a theme of my life anyway is that I would just talk and really you know and I've learned how to talk less and finding that those those silences and just being present is the most important thing because that's the thing the line in the song to is like cuddle up the word is not enough yeah the more you get the more you grow.

So the idea being that just like just be present and hope for the best. And then also it was it's like you know because I don't know what I don't know too you know and that's the thing and kids know that you know that like when someone's telling you what's going on someone's you just I think we all know this when someone is telling us how things are and how things are going to be and you know there's a level of skepticism that you have that you just naturally employ and your children do the same thing so you know I really took a while to finish that song and that would be a perfect time to play it but I'm not gonna play it I think I've already played it on the whole time. Now's the time when you know we'll put the link in the notes so that they can go right from this to the My Little Lamb video and we could say a little bit about it which is just that we did it at home we came up with the kind of storyline and then we had a really fun day going to Whitney Hill Antiques in Deerfield, Massachusetts to look for little lambs to send on little journeys around our house for these little storylines and it was great we spent a whole day just moving them around and coming up with different scenes and we spent one day gathering all of the props right yeah and talking about we don't want that was so cool like we had such a good day the two days that we did it were really cool and it was fun and we both sort of like you had a little scene going on in Izzy's room in the fireplace and I was working on the scenes in the basement we have this very kind of old-school basement you know a dark and dusty we even have a little bomb shelter down there and I wanted to want to make the bomb shelter kind of like where the signifying of the land is really alone and they're smoking yeah it's open drinking oh my goodness that's my fear really it's just um god I don't want my kids to do the dumb shit I did oh my god yes it drives me crazy I think about the things that I you and everyone else all right well I got I got a play I got a I got a play you I worked on this knife song so I'm gonna try to I'm just gonna try to play this you're gonna do what you did earlier you're gonna do more oh no no I got another one my other my other favorite oh I think I might have more than five favorite knife songs well yeah I just know you're gonna be doing more than one in the podcast yeah I don't know let me see right through from the other side wanted to a trail no and inside the moment we believe we've never met another kind of love it's easy to forget and we're all alone then we both agree we have a thing in common and this was meant to be as your shoulder what's its aim was you said say it again if it goes that's the can you follow me it must be safe if it's on TV I raise my hands to heaven their curiosity I don't know what to ask for as a me the others say we're hiding it's forward it's can be some things I do for money some things I do for free I want to go listen to the knife now yeah no that's marble house that one I love that song so creepy only did the two verses it's kind of a duet the song is a duet which is really interesting and I was really trying to examine what the lyrics were about I don't I don't know if you've been whereas if your curiosity was peaked his mind about what this song was about because the first line is like I cut your nails and comb your hair and carry you down the stairs you ever thought about it ever thought about the lyrics of that song no I've been obsessed with the song I'm I what do you think it means what do you think they're talking about like what's the relationship I thought that maybe it was like a young woman and a very old man because it's a line that says some things I do for money some things I do for free which is which is like always the line that kind of blew my mind in the song the others say we're hiding it's as forward as can be some things I do for money some things I do for free interesting just like sitting and watching TV and the second verse which I did not include would be the voice of the of the elder of the old man I gotta go listen to that right now listen to the song I just did that I just did the two verses that the woman sings because it was my favorite I want to keep sure and I didn't want to go because it's a long tune I have to I have to do some weightlifting because I want to be able to carry you up and down the stairs I don't want you to carry me up and down the stairs well don't you want to be able to carry me up and down the stairs if I need it yeah well like probably could except my knees are all fucked up that's the thing I want to be strong for you I'm gonna try some yoga first before I totally give up I'm gonna try to what give up what before I just give up on my knees my knees are my knees are telling me things my knees are saying my knees are telling me that they hurt and then I'm a lot to do yoga and just stretching just stretching in general and also I have been sending you knee X or no I've been still nice a some knee exercises from Instagram for you to do so I don't know where those are I there's just so many things that I can't find emails and what message is this from is it an Instagram message is it from this email address that email address is it a Facebook message is it I just I can't I got so many things that I'm receiving and I have no idea where they are I feel like I'm shuffling through drawers or looking for pieces of paper it's funny like I'll even in this age where everything seemed to be at my fingertips now it seems to be not at my fingertips it seems to be harder and harder to find out what folder it's in and what account it's under you know why it is there's too many things more there's more things than fingertips and so you're yes it is all your fingertips we can't remember which damn place it is because there's so many it's too many places there's not just one email address now there's five email addresses you have to check and then there's not just one social media that also has messaging every fucking social media thing also has a message component I swear to God you could probably have a whole DM life with someone on Venmo I don't know but you probably could I mean it's like it's it's never ending why is there a feed on Venmo by the way why do I need to know the details of like I find it so profoundly uncomfortable every time I have to use Venmo I it's almost like I don't want to look and I open it up and I just like click send to whoever I have to send the money but then I feel like horrified because then I kind of peek out of one eye like oh so it's so it's so sent someone money for ice cream someone paid someone half ice cream what does that mean I'm just like ice cream you know people code all of their yeah I don't get it because I'm so naive I just I'm so literal that I'm like what there's ice cream there's splitting ice cream I don't know that was what ice cream that would be that's my vent of the moment is just I there's enough that's a legit Gen X vent you know I'm sure that there's stand-up comedians I'm elaborating on that as we speak well that's my bit so much of a bit more of a complaint but I just complaints that's everything complaints is the big that's comedy this is how I open up Venmo I don't want to know I don't want to know I don't want to know I don't want to know and I almost feel embarrassed when someone says oh I don't have Venmo or I don't know what Venmo is as if like the fact that I have Venmo makes me like some super computer internet savvy person then I always feel like going I don't know anything either to shut up you're not you had to get it you had to get it because we went on a tour and you were showing t-shirts and vinyl and people are like do you have been you had to get it because that is actually a very direct way people it's a wonderful place and it's a wonderful way to pay people in Venmo if you're ever interested in sponsoring Ron Presions we are here for it we just I just I'm just saying the feed aspect where I'm seeing all of the transactions and people Lewis Dash Barlow Dash 3 yep just randomly anyway randomly send me money on Venmo well I am gonna sign us off here because I only have a you know for us when we were kids I'm just saying you just went from one pen to the other and it wasn't like you're graduating it's like you know you're not free you're not graduating I listen it's a pet it's a thing they do of a passing thing they do now they do it now they're gonna be okay Louie just let them sell them let them do it let them celebrate it we didn't yeah so go check out the knife check out the full conclusion more importantly than I've no friends to the knife we love the knife but they don't have a new video I was far as I know you this is the full conclusion the knife broke
