This episode of the Korea Now podcast features an interview that Jed Lea-Henry conducted with Steven Borowiec. On the four year anniversary of the Sewol ferry disaster, they speak about the events on the day, the expanding chain of calamities that deepened the crisis, and importantly the sharp divisions, contradictions and societal hangovers that were pulled to the surface by the tragedy. Steven Borowiec is a Seoul based journalist, who has worked for The Guardian, The Toronto Star, GlobalPost, South China Morning Post, The Wall Street Journal, and The Chicago Tribune; and is currently the deputy editor at Hankyoreh newspaper in South Korea. His work has covered Korean culture, Korean politics and Korean socio-economics.
