SCRIPTURE TEXT: Matthew 20:1-16   Jesus gives one of His most challenging “Parables of Patience” in Matthew 20’s Parable of the Laborers in the Vineyard. In it, a generous landowner surprises his workers by paying those hired near the very end of the day a wage equivalent to those hired at the beginning. Many who hear this story find their patience challenged by its message that “the last shall be first” (v.16).
