The Last Blockbuster

Send us Fan Mail This week on Get Doc’d, Daphne and Wilsen rewind the tape and press play on The Last Blockbuster. The hosts dive into the nostalgic documentary that tells the real story behind Blockbuster’s rise and fall, while spotlighting the final surviving store in Bend, Oregon. At the heart of the film is Sandi Harding, the determined general manager doing everything she can to keep the last Blockbuster alive—proving that sometimes late fees aren’t the only thing fighting against you… corporate decisions are too. Daphne and Wilsen unpack the documentary’s blend of nostalgia, business lessons, and pop culture memories. From the golden age of Friday night rentals to the streaming revolution that changed everything, the hosts explore how Blockbuster went from entertainment giant to a single blue-and-yellow beacon of movie nights past. Also, a quick note for listeners wondering where Michael “El Profesor” is this week: he’s currently on sabbatical. Don’t worry—he didn’t get lost wandering the aisles looking for the “New Releases” section… although if there’s one place he’d disappear, it might be there. So grab some popcorn, dust off your membership card, and join us as we revisit the last Blockbuster standing. Thanks for listening! Follow us on Facebook.
