The Last Words of Jesus // The Great Reversal

Broken bodies, broken relationships, broken hopes, a broken world, and many more things cause us to suffer under the weight of life in a fallen world and bring tears to our eyes. This is why Jesus first words (question) on the heels of his resurrection are both so shocking and comforting… “Woman, why are you weeping?” Jesus shows us his victory over sin, Satan, and death will reverse the curse and undo every effect of sin on our lives. We live in a world where we still weep because of sin’s effects on our lives, but Jesus’ resurrection changes our weeping, promises to restore what is lost by our weeping, and leaves us with a confident hope that though weeping may last throughout this life, joy has the final word.
