from The Brighton Chamber Podcast · host Brighton and Hove Chamber of Commerce

If you like coffee and live in Brighton and Hove, chances are you've come across Small Batch Coffee. They import and roast all their own coffee in small batches (hence the name!) garnering huge praise and huge numbers of loyal customers. With outlets at both Brighton and Hove stations, 3 coffee shops and stockists all over the city, they've certainly made a splash in the area. At this breakfast, owner Brad Jacobsen are interviewd by Steve Bustin, media trainer and former BBC broadcast journalist and owner of Vada Media. He and Brad talk about the hard work that built the company. Brad also discusses taking his necessary leap of faith, borrowing £20,000 from a friend to buy a coffee roaster... and having to work 3 jobs to keep him going while he mastered the art of not burning each batch! From the challenges he faced when he realised he'd launched a business in the middle of a recession, to finally securing his perfect premises after hoping it would become vacant for two years, we hear all about the Small Batch journey, including how they held their first shareholder meeting-cum-Christmas party in Burger King...
