The Learning Curve of Life (Job 32-37)

Share a commentWhat does suffering teach us, and how can we learn from it? In this episode of The Wisdom Journey, Stephen Davey unpacks Job 32–37 and introduces us to Elihu—a younger voice with fresh insight. Unlike Job’s other friends, Elihu offers new perspectives on God’s purpose in suffering. His words remind Job—and us—that even when God seems silent, He’s still speaking, still working, and still ruling.Elihu presents four key truths: God speaks through suffering, God is always just even when life feels unfair, God is never heartless, and God remains seated on the throne, no matter how unsettled our world becomes. These chapters in Job highlight the steep learning curve we often face in hardship. But within those trials, God is refining, instructing, and comforting. Stephen draws practical lessons from Elihu’s speeches and shows how they apply to your own trials today. If you’re wrestling with pain, unanswered questions, or a sense that God is distant, this episode will remind you that He is near—and He is using even your darkest nights to teach you trust and wisdom.Stephen Davey's newest book, The Disciples Prayer, is available now. https://www.wisdomonline.org/store/view/the-disciples-prayer-hardbackLearn more about twenty-five years of global impact, and reserve tickets to our gala. https://www.wisdomonline.org/mp/25 Learn more at https://www.wisdomonline.org/Support the show
